About Roots & Realms

Hue_edited_edited_edited_edited_edited.j

"Our heart glows, and secret unrest gnaws at the root of our being. Dealing with the unconscious has become a question of life for us."

           - C.G. Jung

Roots

Roots represents our individual psyche.  It is the deepest places within us such as our unconscious, family ties, childhood, desires, emotions, and beliefs.  It signifies the earth, the very ground we walk on, reality, and our own wild nature.  It highlights stories of humanity, the Hero's Journey, determination, self discovery, inner knowing, and identity. â€‹â€‹

Realms

Realms represents our spirit. It signifies wisdom that extends beyond our individual understanding such as the collective unconscious, a higher power, clear guidance or "plan", communion with God, the Universe, flow states, or altered states of consciousness.  It represents a place of possibilities, expansion, boundlessness, joy, and transformation.  It embraces magic, the unknown, our intuition, soulfulness, sacredness, and our drive to find purpose.

Roots & Realms

I believe that the integration of these two spaces can invite a greater sense of wholeness.  Both places hold a sense of mystery, belonging, intuition, and presence, and yet they do it in different ways.  Roots is a hard, grounded, and stable energy.  Realms is soft, expansive, and flowing energy.  They dance beautifully with one another.  Roots need light to grow and harvest fruit.  Light needs earth to give it shape.  Together they can be your teacher and your journey to wellness.

In practice, the integration of Roots and Realms represents guiding you towards deeper aspects of yourself as well as your connection to something bigger than yourself.  I seek to help you bridge those two energies and feel more confident in your ability to know about yourself and your purpose in life.

About Me

Stephanie Jordan Wilson

I am a holistic practitioner and psychotherapist with almost a decade of experience working with adults using a variety of modalities to increase overall wellness.  I am dedicated to fostering a sense of wholeness and fulfillment through the exploration of deep places within and vast possibilities beyond.  I enjoy meaningful relationships, movement, nature, lots of sunshine, music, cooking, and animals, especially dogs (so if you have one tell me about yours!) My desire for you is to more fully witness and receive the small acts of love that we so often miss in day to day life and be able to express your love more unabashedly in return.

Experience

I have almost a decade's worth of experience working with adults in both a clinical and holistic capacity.   I have offered mental health counseling services for 8 years in my own private practice with a focus on treating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship concerns, and life direction.  My approach has evolved to include more holistic interventions after receiving training in somatic, body-based practices and from my experience offering energy work since 2019.  I have also been providing psychedelic integration and harm reduction services drawing from my own direct experiences with plant medicine in Peru and ongoing education on best practices related to psychedelic use.

Education & Credentials

Graduate Education

I received my a Bachelors in Psychology from Taylor University in Indiana, USA before attending the Seattle School of Theology & Psychology in Seattle, WA, USA for a degree in Masters of Counseling Psychology.  My 3 years of graduate work consisted of deep personal exploration as well as the development of professional skills through the school’s formative curriculum which specializes in a relational, psychodynamic approach to mental health counseling. During my time in my master's program I directed my clinical studies towards experiential interventions in order to address concerns such as relationship issues, trauma, aging, depression, and anxiety.

Post-Graduate Work

After graduation, I continued practicing my counseling skills as an intern at Seattle Therapy Alliance (now called MEND) providing low cost mental health counseling through an intersectional framework.  After my internship, I opened my own private practice while also working for 1 year as an intake specialist at a Psychiatric Hospital called Cascade Behavioral Health.  These post-graduate experiences helped me understand the wide range of needs that exist related to mental health and the variety of ways they can be addressed.

Somatic or Body-Based Education

Shortly after starting my private practice I felt called to use more body-based interventions in order to better serve my clients, and myself for that matter. I enrolled at The Seattle School of Body Psychotherapy where I learned about somatic practices and Core Energetics Theory which focuses on drawing out our vibrant, life energy through a variety of body-based exercises.  I graduated after 3 years as a student at the Seattle School of Body Psychotherapy and then spent several years in supervision in order to receive my certification.  During my training at the school I witnessed our profound capacity for joy and love when we are present with our bodies.

Additional Trainings

As the years have continued I received additional training in Psychedelic Integration and Harm Reduction from Fluence International having witnessed firsthand the powerful effects of Psychedelics on personal development and mental health.  I also completed the Level 1 Gottman Method for Couples Therapy and I feel confident about the transformational and meaningful growth that can come from intimate relationships and partnerships.  I am a level 3 Reiki practitioner from the Reiki Training Program in Seattle, WA, USA and I practice mindfulness and body based practices regularly with clients based on my years of experience in martial arts, yoga, and breath-work.  I have a strong interest in Jungian psychology and parts work while exploring the unconscious through visualizations, story work, expressive arts, and more.
