Therapeutic Approach

Theoretical Lens

I believe first and foremost that it is crucial that you feel safe in your process of healing through a secure and meaningful therapeutic bond.  Through my theoretically lens I maintain that over time this bond can create an internal sense of security and well being outside of therapy.  For this reason I offer an integration of Relational Psychodynamic Therapy, Attachment-based therapy, and Mindfulness-based therapy.  This means that throughout the process of therapy you can expect to explore emotions experienced in sessions, themes from childhood, core motivations and beliefs, and client-directed solutions.  I believe that approaching therapy this way can help you practice healthy boundaries, honest communication, and deeper intimacy through the therapeutic bond.  Additionally, I integrate mindfulness and grounding exercises to help support your nervous system and manage a variety of adverse symptoms.

Focus Areas

My areas of focus for psychotherapy include Anxiety, Depression, Attachment Disorders/Relationship Concerns, Complex Trauma Symptoms, and Adjustment Disorders.  I do not offer psychotherapy for couples at this time.  If you are interested in couples work see my notice below for more information.  Sessions may vary depending on your needs and problem areas and I encourage open and honest communication with me in order to ensure you are getting the most out of our appointments.

Medically-Based Framework

Clients seeking mental health counseling should note that while my services are relational and client-directed in nature, they are still operating from within a mental health and medically-based framework.  This means you will be required to complete a full intake and assessment at the start of our work together.  Also, please ensure you have thoroughly reviewed and understood the consent forms before preceding with our appointments.  My psychotherapy consent forms can be viewed here.  You will then receive a mental health diagnosis (if you don't already have one) and a treatment plan which we will go over together.  You will be required to submit periodic questionnaires to track your symptoms and measure your progress.  Each session will be documented according best practices within the mental health field. These protocols, along with others relevant to your treatment, are extremely important when trying to address any adverse symptoms affecting your daily life.  It is my hope when offering treatment in this way that you can experience a greater sense of clarity regarding your symptoms, see more measurable results, and feel a greater sense of wellness over time!

Notice: Holistic Services

If you do NOT wish to address your wellness through a medically-based, symptom reduction lens, please visit my Holistic Services tab for more information on my exploratory, body-based approaches to personal well-being.  For those interested in couples work please see my Couples Mentorship page for more information on experiential intensives I offer to couples and why I approach this work through a holistic service lens as opposed a psychotherapeutic lens.  Please also note that once you have become a mental health client, you cannot switch to Holistic Services.  We can, however, draw from those practices should you desire it just as long as it remains relevant and appropriate to your treatment goals.  Feel free to ask any questions you may have along the way!
